Digital Signature Certificate

Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) authenticates identity electronically. It also provides a high level of security for online transactions by ensuring absolute privacy of the information exchanged using a digital certificate.

Overview

As part of enhanced security for db OnlineBanking, DSC is mandatory for authorizing the following transactions if the daily debit limit consumption in db OnlineBanking is above
Rs. 50 lakhs. For corporates with a single user or no workflow, DSC will be requested at the time of initiation if above criteria is met. For corporates with workflow,
DSC authorization will be requested only at the time of final approval of the transactions meeting the above criteria but not at the time of initiation or intermediary approval.

The following transactions will need to be authenticated by DSC if it meets the criteria given above

  • Bill Payments
  • db DirectDebit*
  • db QuickPay
  • NEFT / RTGS
  • Funds transfer to other Deutsche Bank Accounts
  • Bulk uploads - Within Deutsche Bank / Outside Deutsche Bank Transfer

*db DirectDebit - purchases done on other websites using Deutsche Bank Net Banking as payment option.

Registration Process

Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) can be purchased from any Certifying Authority (CA).
If you already have a DSC issued by your CA*, you can register it on db OnlineBanking.

If you do not have a DSC click here to purchase a DSC from eMudhra. Each DSC will cost Rs. 2000/- only.

Once you have a DSC, please complete the following steps for registration :

  • Plug the DSC token to your computer.
  • Logon into db OnlineBanking and click 'Enroll for Digital Signature Certificate' mentioned on the left hand side link - or under Service Request.
  • Review the details displayed and click on the Register button.
  • A pop up screen will be displayed with registration details and list of DSCs.
  • Select the DSC which you want to register and then click on the Sign button.
  • Authorize the DSC registration by entering the OTP and internet transaction password on the confirmation page.
  • After successful authorization, the DSC registration request will be submitted for processing.
  • Your registration request will be scrutinized by bank and will be processed within
    1 working day.
  • Once the registration request is approved by the bank, you will receive an SMS / email confirmation.

Note :

  • DSC purchased from e-Mudhra is valid only for two years. You need to renew the DSC after two years.
  • The DSC can be used only after successful approval of the registration request by bank.
  • *Only Class 3 DSC will be accepted. If your existing DSC is not Class 3 you will need to purchase a new one.

Transaction authorization

Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is mandatory for online transactions whenever the daily debit limit consumption in online banking is above Rs. 50 lakhs. For corporate customers DSC authorization will be requested only at the time of final approval of the transaction and not at the initiation stage of the transaction.

You can also use DSC for transactions with a daily debit consumption limit is less than or equal to Rs. 50 lakhs, if your DSC is successfully registered and approved by the bank.

The following transactions will be considered, for calculating the daily debit limit

  • Bill Payments
  • db DirectDebit*
  • db QuickPay
  • NEFT / RTGS
  • Funds transfer to other Deutsche Bank Accounts
  • Bulk uploads - Within Deutsche Bank / Outside Deutsche Bank Transfer

*db DirectDebit - purchases done on other websites using Deutsche Bank Net Banking as payment option.

Please find below steps for authorization of transaction using DSC

For Retail

  • Plug the DSC token to your computer.
  • Login to db OnlineBanking and fill in transaction details and submit.
  • If your daily debit limit consumption is above Rs. 50 lakhs and DSC is succesfully registered, a pop up window will open prompting you to enter the DSC token password.
  • Enter the DSC token password and click ok. A pop-up window will be displayed with the transaction details.
  • Review the details and select the DSC.
  • Click the Sign button.
  • On successful validation, he transaction will be submitted for processing.

For Corporates

For corporates with single user or no workflow, the DSC will be requested during transaction initiation. For corporates with workflow, DSC authorization will be requested only at the time of final approval of the transaction and not during the transaction initiation or intermediary approvals.

  • Plug the DSC token to your computer.
  • Login into db OnlineBanking and approve the transaction.
  • If your daily debit limit consumption is less than or equal to Rs. 50 lakhs and the DSC is succesfully registered, a pop up window will open prompting you to enter the DSC token password.
  • Enter the DSC token password and click on ok. A pop up window will be displayed with transaction details.
  • Review details and select DSC.
  • Click the Sign button.
  • On successful validation the transaction will be submitted for processing.

Is DSC required for Self Account Transfer transactions?

No. DSC is not required for Self Account Transfer transactions.

No, it is not considered for daily debit limit consumption calculation.

How do I purchase a DSC?

A DSC can be purchased from any Certifying Authority (CA). We have tied up with eMudhra CA for issuance of the DSC.

I already have a DSC with me; can I register it on db OnlineBanking?

Yes, you can use your existing DSC if it is issued by a Certifying Authority in India. However it needs to be a Class 3 DSC. If your existing DSC is not a Class 3 you will need to purchase a new one.

I have purchased a DSC. How do I start using same in db OnlineBanking for transactions?

You can start using DSC for db OnlineBanking transactions only after registering it with the bank and the registration has been approved.

I have a daily debit limit less than Rs. 50 lakhs. Is DSC mandatory?

No. DSC is mandatory only when the daily debit limit consumption is above Rs. 50 lakhs.

I do not have a daily debit limit of Rs. 50 lakhs. Can I use DSC for db OnlineBanking?

Yes, you can use DSC for db OnlineBanking transactions provided you have a Class 3 DSC issued by a CA, register it with bank and the registration should be approved.
Please note that usage of DSC will not be mandatory but you will have option to use DSC for transaction authorization instead of OTP.

I am a corporate with multiple users and have a daily debit limit more than Rs. 50 lakhs. Do I need to have DSC for each user?

DSC will be required for final approvers of the transaction and not for initiators or intermediary approvals. For example, if you have 3 users as final approvers, you would need 3 digital certificates.

How long is DSC valid when purchased from e-Mudhra?

DSC will be valid for 2 years. After 2 years, you need to renew the DSC.

Will there be any charge for renewal of DSC?

Yes, there will be charge for renewal of DSC.

Can I register the DSC issued in the name of some other person?

The DSC issued in the name of some other person cannot be registered by you.

I have lost my DSC token can I block my DSC registered with bank?

Yes you can block your registered DSC by calling our 24-hour Phone Banking Team.

I have got a new DSC can I replace my old DSC registered with bank?

Yes you can replace you new DSC by using 'Re Enroll Digital Signature Certificate' link under Service requests in
db OnlineBanking and the new DSC has to be approved by the bank.

How do I come to know if my DSC registration is approved by bank?

On successful approval of your DSC registration, you will receive a SMS / Email on your registered mobile / email address. Alternatively, you can also check the status using the option 'Query on Requests' under Service Request.
